NTMC - Sam Pack Toy Drive

I know many of you traditionally participate in the AER Toys for Tots Drive. This year the event will be sponsored by Sam Pack and will be held between 9am and 1pm at the Sam Pack dealership located at 8900 President George Bush Turnpike, Dallas TX. We will be shopping for toys at a nearby Walmart. Those of you who want to help during the shopping trip please meet at the dealership before 10.
Scat members will also be at Sam Pack during the drive. If you have toys you intend to donate please come by, drop them off and visit for a little bit. We hope to see you there.

NTMC News and Happenings November, 11, 2020

Members,

Veterans day is once again upon us. It goes without saying, all branches of the military are very well represented by the members of the NTMC. I would like to personally thank all members who proudly served, for their contributions towards assuring the citizens of the USA continue to enjoy the rights and freedoms our forefathers preserved for us. I would also like to extend a big thanks to all the spouses of veterans for their often unmentioned support. Your work behind the scenes does not go unnoticed.

PONY CORRAL: WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN DOING LATELY?

With very few activities going on we are still experiencing a lack of content for the Pony Corral. We will likely need to combine November and December unless we receive more articles or pictures. As usual if you have any articles or pictures you think would be of interest to the membership, please send them to NTMCnews@Gmail.com

IMPORTANT: NOVEMBER MEMBERS MEETING.

As you all know many areas are still restricting gatherings and I anticipate if the positive cases continue to rise gatherings may get more restrictive. This will probably continue to make our search for a meeting place difficult. The board understands the need to meet regularly so we are continuing to search for a suitable indoor location. In the mean time we are trying to find an outdoor area that is suitable to hold a meeting. As we move towards winter however, we will have to contend with the changing weather. If we have to choose an outdoor location the meeting will be held during the day on a weekend. If anyone has any ideas as to where we can try to hold a meeting please let us know.

ELECTIONS:

We are at that time of year when we hold the NTMC elections. This will likely be a challenge but we will try to find a way to make it happen. Currently the positions up for rotation are President, Treasurer, MCA Rep, and three Director positions. All incumbents with the exception of the treasurer and one director are running for office. If you are interested in running for one of the positions please let Jim Harrington and/or Jerry Flowers know. Their contact information can be found in the most recent Pony Corral.

CRUISE ON THE SQUARE:

Saturday November 14th is the last Cruise on The Square for 2020. Our first year at Parker Square has been a great one. It has been the one thing I look forward to each month because it gives me a sense of normalcy. If you are able to, come on out and help make this the best show of the year. Remember, during the show we will be collecting non-perishable food items from participants to fill the Thanksgiving baskets. we might need a little extra help to accomplish this so if you plan to be at the show please consider offering up a few minutes of your time to help make someones thanksgiving a little brighter.

THANKSGIVING BASKETS:

Many of you know the November activity NTMC looks forward most is creating thanksgiving baskets for those in need. The board felt since this is a tradition that helps so many we needed to find a way to make it happen. We felt the easiest way to collect food for the baskets was to ask participants at the November 14th Parker Square Cruise to bring non perishable food items to donate. Please get hold of Phyllis Crouch if you have identified a family that is in need of a basket. If you have identified a family but are not comfortable getting out to deliver the basket, I can make the delivery for you.

ANNUAL NTMC CHRISTMAS PARTY:

After a lot of discussion by members of the board we decided it wouldn't be prudent to hold the NTMC Christmas party and gift exchange. This was not an easy decision to come to. As an alternative we are going to try to arrange a drive by gift drop off where the gifts would benefit those in need. Jerry Flowers is working on finding a location to hold the gift drop off. Stay tuned for more info as it comes available.

SCOTTISH RITE CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL:

Phil Sweeney has been working with Scottish Rite to try to organize a toy drive sometime this fall. At this point there has been a little hesitation because of the increase in covid cases. If we are unable to do the toy drop off we may have a reasonable option to make sure we are able to donate toys that will put a smile on someones face. Scottish Rite has been a great partner and supporter over the past few years. This will be a great way to show them appreciation for what they do and will provide us the opportunity to give something back to the patients who benefit from everything Scottish Rite has to offer.

AER TOY DRIVE:

Many of you have participated in the annual AER Toys For TOTs drive. This has been one of my favorite activities NTMC is involved in. Regrettably AER will be unable to continue the tradition. Not to worry however, as Sam Pack has come to the rescue. More details will be released as they become available. I would like to thank AER for their many years of unwavering support during the Toy Drive. I would like to think the support they have offered throughout the years has made Christmas a little better for those children who benefited from their generosity.

UPCOMING EVENTS:

NTMC Events and Happenings October 30th 2020

Members,

With the holidays fast approaching and the pandemic not slowing down, the next couple months are looking to be a pretty unusual holiday season. The board has discussed how the current events are going to affect some of NTMC's traditional holiday gatherings and activities. We have come up with a couple solutions that will be discussed later in this post. I am not sure how long this is all going to last but the sooner it ends the better.

PONY CORRAL: WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN DOING LATELY?

CRUISE ON THE SQUARE:

Saturday October 10th was a great day for a show. With more than 50 cars registered it was destined to be another great show. As usual thanks to Lynda Miller the show was well run and once again the participants were showered with lots of great door prizes. A huge shout out to all the members who show up early to get things set up, stay through the show to make sure everything runs smoothly and then help close the show out. Be sure to come on out for the last Cruise of the season on November 14th.

MCA TRACK EVENT:

MCA will host a track event with support by Ford Motor Company at Hallett raceway in Oklahoma Nov. 7 & 8? Ford Motor Company asked us to make sure that NTMC club members know that they have the opportunity to participate since it is in the region.

The "Oklahoma Roundup" is limited in the number of participants to maximize track time. Registration is at https://bit.ly/378XotP, hotel info can be found at https://bit.ly/2H9AtUc and the Hallett info is https://bit.ly/3nSXM5G.

NTMC News and Happenings September 12, 2020

Members,

Well here we are at the onset of Fall and still fighting Covid-19 restrictions. I honestly felt the pandemic would have slowed down enough by now to where things would be close to normal. As we head into the last part of the year, I am hoping there are signs things will begin to level off. At least we have been able to hold the Cruise on The Square shows with a lot of success. If you haven't been to one of the shows at Parker Square you are missing out a great show at a great venue. We have been fortunate to have great weather at each of the shows. I hope that continues the next couple months. I hope everyone continues to take care of themselves and stays safe.

PONY CORRAL: WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN DOING LATELY?

With very few activities going on we are still experiencing a lack of content for the Pony Corral so the next pony corral will be a combined September/October issue. As usual if you have any articles or pictures you think would be of interest to the membership, please send them to NTMCnews@Gmail.com

AUGUST SHOW AND SHINE:

As many of you know the last members meeting was a show and shine/pizza fest. several members participated and displayed some nice cars for anyone who happened to be at Parker Square to view. We all all had a great time enjoying pizza and drinks during the meeting. It proved to be a really nice location to have an outdoor meeting so look for us to possibly do it again at some point in the future.

IMPORTANT: SEPTEMBER MEMBERS MEETING (POSTPONED TO OCTOBER)

As you all know many areas are still restricting gatherings although, they seem to have lightened up a tad. We have been in contact with the church and have now been told because they have to sanitize the rooms after every use, they have suspended all non-church related use of their facilities until the pandemic is over. The board understands the need to meet regularly so we are continuing to search for a suitable indoor location. All things considered we have decided since there is very little to report we plan to hold our members meetings bi-monthly with the first one in October.

CRUISE ON THE SQUARE:

Saturday Sept 12th was a great day for a show. With 59 cars registered on a nice cool sunny day it was destined to be a good one. There were free snow cones provided by Adventure Kids Playcare, lots of great door prizes, beautiful cars to see and great friends to visit with. Be sure to come on out to the next Cruise on October 10th.

 VIRTUAL CAR SHOW :

We are putting the final touches on the virtual car show instructions. Participants will be asked to submit a 45 second video of them talking about their car and how they became a Mustang enthusiast. Start getting your videos ready to submit.

SCOTTISH RITE CHILDRENS HOSPITAL:

Phil Sweeney will be working with Scottish Rite to try to organize a toy drive sometime this fall. Scottish Rite has been a great partner and supporter over the past few years. This will be a great way to show them appreciation for what they do and will provide us the opportunity to give something back to the patients who benefit from everything Scottish Rite has to offer.

BIRTHDAY PARADES:

The trend lately has been to hold birthday parades for those that can't have a birthday party due to the pandemic. Without hesitation NTMC members have participated in several of these over the past month. The looks on the faces of the birthday boys and girls has been priceless.  Many times, the parades have literally brought some family members to tears. Thanks to everyone who has volunteered to both coordinate and participate in the parades. We have another couple coming up which will come out in a separate email.

NTMC Happenings July 11 2020 (addition)

Members,

I forgot to add the birthday drive by for 6 year old Jacob Karen Murphy coordinated with Jacobs father and was able to gather 14 mustangs for the drive by. Jacob was really excited to see the cars and his Grandmother was brought to tears as she couldn't believe so many people who didn't know the family were so willing to make Jacobs birthday one he will never forget. Thanks to Karen and everyone who came out to make Jacobs day.

NTMC News and UpComing Events July 11th 2020

Members,

Just when we thought things were clearing up, things got cloudier. Unfortunately, as we all know the spike in Covid cases is again having more of an impact on our lives than we would really like. With the more restrictive outdoor gathering guidelines in place we have seen cancelled events car related or otherwise all over the metroplex. I sincerely hope that you all are continuing to be safe and practicing all of the recommended social distancing guidelines.

PONY CORRAL: WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN DOING LATELY?

With very few activities going on we are experiencing a lack of content for the Pony Corral so the next pony corral will be a combined July/August issue.   If you have any articles or pictures you would like to contribute, please send pics and articles to NTMCnews@Gmail.com

IMPORTANT: JULY MEMBERS MEETING

Since many areas are restricting gatherings, we are unfortunately going to be forced to cancel the July Members meeting. The church has suspended all non church related use of their facilities until things improve. The board understands the need for a meeting however we simply have not been able to find a suitable place to have a meeting. If things get better, we discussed the possibility of holding a mid-day August member meeting at a park on a weekend where we could all spread out. We could ask each member to bring their own picnic lunch to enjoy during the meeting. Stay tuned for updates.

ELECTIONS:

In June we were to have held elections for Vice President, Secretary and 4 Directors. We have only had two members, Craig Senick and Phil Sweeney express interest in running for the board. With Mark Powell rotating off the board that left one vacancy. Ron Weaver offered to rotate off the board as well in order to give those that wanted to run, the opportunity to serve. By acclimation Craig Senick and Phil Sweeney filled the vacated positions effective immediately. Please welcome Craig and Phil to the board.

Jim Harrington has expressed an interest in passing the treasurer torch on to anyone interested in taking on those duties. There has not been a lot of interest in the position during past elections so Jon Steed has offered to shadow Jim so he can run for treasurer. The board is seeking interest from the membership for someone who is willing to run for Club Secretary. If you are interested please let the nominating committee (Jim Harrington and Jerry Flowers) know.

CRUISE ON THE SQUARE:

Saturday June 13th marked the first cruise at Parker Square. If you weren't there you missed a good one. There were more than 100 cars present with 92 registered. Most everyone was able to take advantage of the nice park like settings and great restaurants. We received very positive feedback from the Parker Square management team so thanks to all who participated and helped make it a huge success. We are looking forward to the next cruise on August 8th.

YELLOW ROSE:

As you know we had to postpone the Yellow Rose Show to July 23rd-25th. This decision was very difficult to make as it is the longest standing traditional event NTMC is involved in. We will be forging ahead to next year planning the best indoor all Ford car show the area has to offer. Thanks to those on the planning committee for their hard work planning the event.

VIRTUAL CAR SHOW :

Pete Sigwardt had a great suggestion for a virtual car show. Participants would submit a 45 second video of them talking about their car and how they became a Mustang enthusiast. He will take all of the submitted videos and create a nice compilation of the videos to be posted on YouTube. More on this to follow as he and I work together to decide how it will work.

SCOTTISH RITE CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL:

Phil Sweeney will be working with Scottish Rite to try to organize a toy drive and hospital tour sometime this fall. Scottish Rite has been a great partner and supporter over the past few years. This will be a great way to show them appreciation for what they do and will provide us the opportunity to give something back to the patients who benefit from everything Scottish Rite has to offer.

Fwd: NTMC News and Happenings May 22, 2020

Members

Judging by the activity on the Facebook page everyone is itching to get out and start participating in car shows. In the coming weeks we will be busy gearing up for many of the NTMC upcoming events. As with all of our events we would not be able to hold them without the help of the members of the club. The first event coming up is The Cruise on the Square on Saturday June 13th.  The week after that June 20th, we will be holding the Summit Racing All Ford Show. Of course the Yellow Rose will be held in late July. We are going to need lots of help to run these shows so if you have the time come on out pitch in and join in on the fun.

PONY CORRAL: WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN DOING LATELY?

Lora is busy getting the June Pony Corral together. If you have any Pics or stories about what you have been doing to pass the time while staying at home, please send them in so she can include them in the newsletter.  Please send pics and articles to NTMCnews@Gmail.com

IMPORTANT: JUNE MEMBER'S MEETING

We are still planning to have a June Members meeting. There is a chance the Church may not be able to allow the use of their facility for meeting. If that is the case, we will see if we can find an alternate location. As was mentioned in an earlier post we may try to integrate a picnic into the meeting to kick things off.

ELECTIONS:

In June we will have elections for Vice President, Secretary and 4 Directors. If you are interested in any of these positions please let the nominating committee, (Jim Harrington, Jerry Flowers) know.

Jim Harrington has expressed an interest in passing the treasurer torch on to anyone interested in taking on those duties. There has not been a lot of interest in the position during past elections so Jon Steed has offered to shadow Jim so he can run for treasurer. The board is seeking interest from the membership for someone who is willing to run for Club Secretary to allow Jon time to shadow Jim prior to the winter elections. Please let the nominating committee know if you are interested.

CRUISE ON THE SQUARE:

Saturday June 13th marks the first cruise at Parker square. At the time of this posting everything is a go. Because this will be the first cruise at Parker Square, we are going to need to have a dry run to make sure we coordinate parking the cars and setting the equipment and registration table up. In the coming weeks we are going to be asking a few members to come out and assist with the mock set up. I will let everyone know when we choose that date.

SUMMIT ALL FORD SHOW:

This is still scheduled for June 20th. George is continuing to work with Summit in planning the event. If Summit or the City of Arlington directives suggest the show not be held, we will look at alternate dates suggested by Summit to hold the show. Let George know of you are available to help during the show.

YELLOW ROSE:

The Yellow Rose Committee is hard at work planning for The Yellow Rose Classic in July. We are going to need lots of help as usual. Since we haven't been able to pass the book around please let us know if you want to sign up for the usual jobs such as floor marking, selling tickets, working the merchandise counter etc. You can contact Jackie or Mark Powell if you are interested in helping out. You can also send me an email at prez@ntmc.org if you are interested in signing up to help out and I will get it to them. If you plan to enter a car you can download the registration form from the Yellow Rose web site  http://yrcs.ntmc.org/ . If the show is not held due to the Expo Centers decisions on closures your money will be refunded, or check returned.

SAM PACK SPRING NATIONALS:

Sam Pack regrettably has decided to cancel the Spring Nationals rather than reschedule them. This was not an easy decision as this long-held show has always had a special and deep meaning to many people both within the Sam Pack community as well as the NTMC.  We will be planning for a 2021 Spring Nationals next May.

STAN JOHNSON TROPHIES:

Mark has been able to acquire Ford replacement trophy tops for the Trophies everyone received at the die-cast show. Bring your trophy to the June meeting and Mark will replace the tops during the meeting.

SCAT SHOW:

Unfortunately, due to recent developments affecting the location where the SCAT show was to be held, they have had to postpone the event to a yet to be determined date in the fall.

UPCOMING EVENTS:
Cruise on The Square: June 13th, Parker Square Flower Mound

Summit All Ford Show: June 20th

Yellow Rose Classic: July 25th-26th
