Suicide Prevention Display

Tomorrow is the Suicide Prevention Display at Bachman Lake Park from 10:30 - 1:00. I have limited it to 1:00 due to the heat so that we make a showing but don't suffer complete heat exhaustion. Mark an I will have extra water with us but please bring ice and water with you for this event. Also plan on using one of your clean micro fibers to use around your necks to cool your self.

I did not find an acceptable restaurant nearby, so we will meet there. Call if you have problems finding the Park.

The address is
Bachman Lake Park
3500 W Northwest Hwy
Dallas, TX 75220

Posted 6/24/18: NTMC Happenings through 6/30/18

HI Members!

Below are activities that will be taking place through the 4th of July Holiday.

Saturday, June 30th, NTMC Trailer Cleanup, 8:00 am - until done (about 2 hours)
Powell's House, 235 S Houston School Rd, Lancaster, TX 75146
Mark: 214-392-5156 or Jackie: 817-729-3906

We will be washing the NTMC Trailer, no waxing since it has a wrap, in preparation for the Arlington 4th of July Parade. In addition, we will empty the trailer and reorganize the contents. The last time this was done was prior to it receiving it's wrap which was about three years ago. Since it doesn't need a wax job, it should take about 2 hours to accomplish. The Powell's will be supplying donuts, coffee and unlimited water for this task. The more folks we have the faster this will get done!

Wednesday, July 4th, Arlington 4th of July Parade
Come watch the Arlington 4th of July Parade. The theme this year is "Star Spangled Independence Day". The Parade starts at 9:00 am barring a weather delay. A team of your NTMC members will be participating with 6 cars and the club trailer. The club and Yellow Rose will be advertised at all 7 seven announcing stands throughout the parade route.

Wednesday, July 4th, Estes Unit Minimum Security Prison,1100 FM 1807, Venus, TX 76084

On the 4th of July the Estes Unit Minimum Security Prison is holding a car show. (This is not open to the public, only participants who bring cars and bikes).

This is a FIRST EVER car show at a prison in the United States. The cars will be judged by the inmates, there are some 35 trophies which some will have unique names, like Clyde Barrow Special, Best Getaway Car, Black and Blue Special which is the best paint job, 3 Grand prize trophies which will be the Warden's Choice, Prison Boss Choice, and Prisoner Choice.  It will be a longer than normal car show as they will only allow 250 inmates into the yard to at a time to judge the cars and in order for all of the inmates to get a chance to judge (there is some 1050 inmates) it will probably last until about 3 pm.  The only real drawback is you will need to be there early, 7:30 am ( see the flyer) (I know you are going to a prison and I am saying that is the only drawback).  And again this is a minimum security prison, all are about to be released with in the next 3 years and most have less time than that.

There is an air conditioned gym for us to go to if we get hot. They will be serving hamburgers, chips, watermelon and other stuff.   I am attaching the flyer for you to look at.  I am waiting to hear from Chaplain Athey about parking trailers and towing vehicles for anyone that might trailer their car there.  You may bring a cooler with plastic sealed drinks. No glass or cans. No alcoholic beverages. No purses or knives. Clean your cars out.

Please look the flyer over carefully (see attached flyer to this email) , you will need to email Chris Athey at Chris.Athey@mtctrains.com with your name as it appears on your drivers license, the last 4 digits of your drivers license and the car that you will be bringing by Wednesday, June, 27th in order to attend.

You must arrive by 7:30 am day of show!

By the way THIS IS ALL FREE OF CHARGE!!!  I hope you will attend if you can it will be something you have never done before.

Posted 6/17/18: NTMC Happening Week ending 6/23/18

Good Afternoon NTMC Members!

This week here are the upcoming activities:

Thursday, June 21, 2018 at 7:30 pm NTMC Membership Meeting

The meeting is held at Holy Family of Nazareth, 2323 Cheyenne St,, Irving, TX 75062. Normally the meeting is held in the Cafeteria. This month we will be in the Gonzales Room.

7:00 - 7:30 is time to socialize with one another.

At the meeting this month we will have special guests from Bikers for Suicide Prevention to talk to us about a rally and display that we will be supporting on July 21st at Flag Pole Hill in Dallas near White Rock Lake. I don't know about you, but suicide has touched me twice, so this subject is near and dear to my heart.

We will also be holding mid-year elections for VP, Secretary and 4 Board positions. If you have any desire to help guide the direction of this great club, please consider becoming a member of the Board of Directors. Call Jim Harrington at 214-335-9928 before Thursday to have your name added to the ballot.

This is also the last meeting prior to the Yellow Rose Classic Car Show. You will hear about the last minute preparations for the show. The Board is also looking for volunteers to help with various activities during the show, such as, Judging (training will be provided), merchandise sales, front door ticket sales, Friday morning floor marking, etc. The volunteer book will be available at the meeting, but if you won't be able to attend and want to participate, email me, Jackie Powell, at prez@ntmc.org.

Hope to see you at the Meeting!

I have no Car Shows listed for Saturday, June 23. If you have any that you would like to let members know about please post them on the NTMC Facebook page. If you aren't a member of the Facebook Page, please apply to join and you will be admitted within a day.
